After decades, the original Mercedes fuel hoses often need replacing. The original Mercedes fuel hoses feature a hard vinyl layer on the inside, while the outside consists of rubber. Due to aging, the vinyl layer becomes hard and brittle. At the same time, the rubber on the outside also gradually loses its flexibility and strength. As a result, the hose can tear or even break off completely without clear warning. This can lead to fuel leakage, starting problems, and, in the worst case, a fire hazard.

Therefore, always check during maintenance whether the hose is still firmly attached to the connections. This fuel hose is slid over the connections at the factory without hose clamps.
