Important

When replacing, also check the condition of the windshield washer fluid pump, rubber grommets, filler cap, and hoses. Worn seals can cause leaks or draw in air, resulting in the windshield washers functioning less effectively.

On the Mercedes W126 SE, SEL, and C126 SEC, the reservoir is located next to the battery box. Therefore, when the reservoir has been removed, immediately check whether the battery box and battery rack are free of rust. Also, remove accumulated leaves, dirt, and other organic material under and around the reservoir. Residual moisture and dirt can damage the paintwork and eventually cause corrosion.
