Product description

This high-quality coolant pump ensures reliable coolant circulation and keeps the engine at the correct operating temperature. A properly functioning coolant pump helps prevent engine overheating and contributes to a long service life of the entire cooling system.

This version features a robust cast iron pump housing, a metal impeller with 8 blades, and a short 4-hole flange with a distance of approximately 62 mm between the flange and the hub. The coolant pump is supplied including a paper gasket.

Due to the various versions and changes during production, for a number of models it is important to check the engine code, engine number, and version of the installed water pump in addition to the vehicle type.

Advice for optimal protection of the cooling system

For a long lifespan of the radiator, water pump, and other components of the cooling system, we always recommend using the correct coolant.

For classic Mercedes models, this is usually a blue-green, silicate-based coolant that offers protection against corrosion, limescale, and internal degradation of the cooling system.

In addition, waterless coolant is an excellent alternative. It prevents internal corrosion, reduces the risk of boiling problems, and offers extra protection for classic engines.

Installation manual coolant pump water pump

1. Never carry out repair work while the engine is running.
2. Preparation
   Allow the cooling system to cool down completely and drain all coolant until the system is completely empty. Next, remove the water pump and carefully clean all sealing and mating surfaces. Remove all residues of old gaskets and sealants. We also recommend cleaning and flushing the entire cooling system. Check all components of the cooling system and replace them if necessary.

Warning: Never reuse drained coolant. Coolant is hazardous waste and must be disposed of in accordance with applicable regulations.

3. Installation of the new water pump
   Always install the new water pump with a new gasket. Tighten the mounting bolts to the torque specified by the vehicle manufacturer and check that the pump can rotate freely.

Warning: When using a silicone gasket or silicone sealant, the prescribed curing time must be fully observed before filling the cooling system with coolant. Never use too much.

4. Fan check
   Check the fan for damage and replace it if necessary. For vehicles with a fan clutch, its correct operation must also be checked.

Warning: A defective fan clutch can lead to premature failure of the new water pump.

5. Checking the drive belt
   Check the drive belt(s) for wear, deformation, and hardening. Replace worn belts, and we recommend always installing a new drive belt when replacing the water pump. Adjust the belt tension according to the vehicle manufacturer's specifications to prevent damage to the bearings of the driven components.

Warning: Always check the operation of the belt tensioner and replace it if necessary.

6. Hose inspection
   Check that all cooling hoses and hose clamps are in good condition and correctly installed.
7. Filling the cooling system
   Fill the cooling system with new coolant.

Warning: Use only coolant prescribed or approved by the vehicle manufacturer.

8. Vent
   Bleed the cooling system according to the vehicle manufacturer's instructions.

Warning: A slight leak may occur at the vent opening during bleeding.

9. Final inspection
   Test run the engine and check the entire cooling system for leaks. Also check that all cooling hoses and hose clamps are correctly installed. Then let the engine cool down and check the coolant level again. Pressure test the cooling system to check for leaks.
