This aluminium thermostat housing is a durable modification for the original plastic thermostat housing of the Mercedes M103 engine. The original plastic version is a known weak point and can crack due to aging, resulting in coolant leakage.

With this aluminium version, this problem is permanently solved. The thermostat housing is much stronger than the original plastic part and is therefore ideally suited as a preventive replacement, during a cooling system overhaul, or in the event of a leak.

Advice for optimal protection of the cooling system

For a long lifespan of the radiator, water pump, and other components of the cooling system, we always recommend using the correct coolant.

For classic Mercedes models, this is usually a blue-green, silicate-based coolant that offers protection against corrosion, limescale, and internal degradation of the cooling system.

In addition, waterless coolant is an excellent alternative. It prevents internal corrosion, reduces the risk of boiling problems, and offers extra protection for classic engines.
