Tip

If this oil pressure sensor is defective, this can often be recognized by the fact that the oil pressure gauge indicates 3 bar while the ignition is switched on and the engine is not running. This usually indicates a defective sensor or an internal short circuit.

It can also happen that the oil pressure gauge indicates low oil pressure while driving, even though the actual oil pressure is fine. This can be caused by contamination or deposits that have entered the sensor, rendering the measurement incorrect.
