Instruction manual for soft and hardtop release repair kit Mercedes R107 SL

The modification kit is available in our webshop, item number  MB-107-CV-NB

1. Dismantle the complete release mechanism and the release lock.

2. We recommend marking the position of the release lock before reassembling it in the correct original position.

3. Remove the small metal arm of the clamp holder from the release mechanism. You can easily saw this off. (see photos)

4. Now mount the new bracket together with the release mechanism and the release cable. The bracket is placed on the mechanism and fits precisely with the two slots.

5. Tip: The slotted adjustment screw ensures easy installation. Adjust the adjustment screw so that the cable core does not run out of the slot during attachment! Adjustment screw with the slot facing the interior of the vehicle.

6. Check the operation of the lever (the small lever) and adjust by turning the adjustment screw.

7. When the small lever (half-moon) rests on the shaft, the lock must be pulled all the way out. Please do not overtighten.

8. Depending on the age of the SL, the release mechanism often also features a plastic guide: Mercedes part number: A1077580014. It is advisable to replace this immediately as well, since the plastic hardens with age and cracks as a result.
